Are you thinking about joining the National Guard but don’t know if it’s for you? You have some friends who are in the National Guard and they say some good things or you see how it’s helped them. You have also spoken to other friends who are in the military and they tell you that you are not the right type of person for the military. Sure you value the opinion of your friends and family but something within you has this curiosity but you still don’t really know. These are very common issues that people have when they are thinking about joining the National Guard or any branch of the military. What I recommend to those individuals who are thinking about joining the National Guard is to educate themselves on all the pros and cons about joining. Look at different website, blogs and speak to people who are in the military. I would also recommend to sit down and talk with a recruiter.
I would also recommend that you don’t commit to anything until you feel comfortable that all your questions and concerns have been addressed. That is why it’s so important that you do your research before hand. I have a strong belief that proper knowledge is power. In this age of the internet where you can find an answer to your questions by typing them into a search engine, its irresponsible in my opinion to not do proper diligence. Once you do your research write down some questions as not all of them will be answered online and certain requirements and incentives change, a recruiter has the most up to date changes to regulations.
Joining the Army National Guard is a big decision and could be one of the biggest decisions of your life. There are so many great things it can do for you but it also comes at a price and you must be willing to pay that price. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to post a question or give me a call at 808-864-9627.
