Learn what to expect at Basic Combat Training. You probably have lots of questions about Basic Combat Training (BCT).
You’ll find a lot of answers in this section—what to expect from week to week, what to pack, what not to pack, and plenty of other things that are good to know before you arrive.
Long before you meet your drill sergeant, you’ll be told what you can and cannot bring with you. It’s very important to show up with all the right items—and leave everything else at home. We will provide you a checklist of what items to bring at the Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP)
In the event that you’re not able to ship to BCT within 30 days, you’ll enter into the Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP). RSP will introduce you to military life and help you know what to expect once you get to BCT—plus you’ll be getting paid to attend each RSP drill.
Once you get to BCT, you’ll be wrapping your head around a lot of new information very quickly. One of the most important things is learning the chain of command—all the enlisted and officer ranks. Start getting in physical shape. Practice doing push-ups, sit-ups, and most of all RUNNING!
Note: Army National Guard programs and benefits are subject to change. For the latest information, please contact your local recruiter.
